In this month’s issue of Fertility and Sterility there is a study by Meng and colleagues (1) who report the application of new methodology that allows researchers to measure a biomarker of endometrial development within uterine secretions, using non-invasive testing, instead of a traditional and disruptive endometrial biopsy. Nucleolar channel systems (NCS) have been described as a unique ultrastructural feature of human endometrium and used as a landmark for the timing the window of implantation (WOI).
